What measures are taken to improve patient comfort when using Medical Imaging Equipment?

When using Medical Imaging Equipment, medical institutions and equipment manufacturers have taken many measures to improve the comfort of patients.

First, start with the physical design of the equipment. Taking magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment as an example, due to the relatively closed space of its examination cabin, it is easy for patients to feel claustrophobic. The current MRI equipment is designed to maximize the internal space of the examination cabin to reduce the patient's sense of oppression. Some high-end equipment also adopts an open

structural design, which partially solves the problem of patients' fear of small and enclosed spaces. At the same time, the design of the examination bed also takes into account the comfort of the patient. Its surface is made of soft, comfortable and easy-to-clean materials, and it can be appropriately adjusted according to different examination parts to adapt to the patient's body curve and reduce the discomfort of the body pressure points.

Secondly, take measures for some special situations during the operation of the equipment. During CT scanning, the equipment will make a certain amount of noise, which may make patients feel irritable. In order to reduce the impact of this noise on patients, modern CT equipment uses a variety of noise reduction technologies. For example, by optimizing the mechanical structure and scanning algorithm of the equipment, the noise level generated during the operation of the equipment can be reduced. At the same time, patients will be provided with soundproofing equipment such as earplugs or earmuffs to further reduce noise interference.

Furthermore, there are many considerations in terms of patient preparation and examination process. Before the imaging examination, medical staff will explain the process, purpose and precautions of the examination to the patient in detail to reduce the patient's tension caused by fear of the unknown. For some examination items that require special preparation (such as fasting, holding urine, etc.), medical staff will give clear guidance to avoid patients repeating the examination due to improper preparation. During the examination, medical staff will also communicate with patients through intercoms, answer patients' questions in a timely manner, and provide psychological support to patients.

In addition, efforts have been made in creating the environment. The temperature and humidity of the examination room are controlled within a suitable range, generally maintained at 22-24 degrees Celsius, and the humidity is between 40%-60%. The light in the room is also softer to avoid excessive light irritating the patient's eyes. At the same time, some examination rooms will also play soothing music to help patients relax, thereby improving the patient's comfort throughout the examination process.
